Women Go Gliding is a national initiative and community focused on encouraging, supporting, and increasing the participation of women in the sport of soaring (gliding).

Based at our scenic Aboyne airfield — this free event is dedicated to welcoming more women to gliding. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already aviation-curious, we invite you to join our community-focused event for the National Women Go Gliding Weekend.

  • Guided Site Tours: Get an in-depth look at our facilities. You’ll tour the hangars, get up close to our fleet of high-performance gliders, and see exactly how we launch them.
  • Meet the Community: You'll meet local female pilots and instructors who have been where you are. They will be on hand to share their "first flight" stories, offer advice, and answer those "how does this actually stay up?" questions.
  • Discover the Club Life: Gliding is as much a social hobby as a technical one. You’ll find out how the Deeside Gliding Club operates, from our trial lesson packages to full membership. Learn about our training syllabus, the social events at the clubhouse, and how you can become a regular part of our flying family.
