Deeside Gliding Club is more than just a place to fly—it is a diverse and inclusive community of over 100 members from all walks of life.

Whether you are a complete beginner, a seasoned cross-country pilot, or looking for a social connection to aviation, we welcome all ages and gender identities to our Club.

What we Offer

  • Our Community & Operations: Operated by its members, the club is based at the Aboyne Airfield (AB34 5LB). We pride ourselves on being a safe, professional, and well-equipped facility
  • Our Members: You’ll be joining a thriving group of approximately 100 members—including 16 junior members and 10 qualified instructors
  • Shared Learning: You’ll have a supportive group of peers to share your training and learning experience

The Member Experience

Our members enjoy:

  • Access: Use of the club fleet, simulator, hangar, and workshop equipment.
  • Participation: We encourage everyone to get involved by contributing their existing skills or learning new ones to help maintain and run the site
  • Instruction: Expert training is available to help you progress through every stage of your pilot journey
