About the Club

Set in the heart of Royal Deeside on the bank of the River Dee, the club is renowned for being the foremost Wave soaring site in Britain, offering a world-class soaring experience that’s among the best in Europe.

The UK altitude record of 38,600 feet was set by a glider flown from our club in October 1995.

Our Community of Aviators

Home to a thriving community of aviators, our Club invites people of all ages and backgrounds to join us. We offer a friendly, social atmosphere alongside the opportunity to enjoy the unique thrill of flight.

We are fully affiliated with the British Gliding Association (BGA), the national governing body that regulates and oversees all gliding activities across the United Kingdom.

Our Fleet

Training at our club takes place in modern tandem, dual-control gliders with the student in the front seat. This layout ensures that when you progress to your first solo flight, the view and controls remain familiar. You’ll pilot the same aircraft you trained in, transitioning from dual instruction to independent flight with confidence.

The club also operates two single seater gliders, a Discus and an LS4, available for suitably qualified members to fly.

All of our gliders are equipped to a very high standard, making them suitable for progression from basic training to long cross-country flights in the single- and two-seat gliders. Our two seaters are also fully aerobatic.

Our fleet of aircraft undergo comprehensive maintenance. This rigorous process leads to the renewal of each aircraft’s Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A), upholding the highest standards of safety and reliability for our members and visitors.
