Visiting Pilots

FYL

Solo -Suitable experience on type, to include stall reinforcement and spin recovery.

Solo - As for full members plus a site check by DGC or authorised instructor. Local flying only.

Solo X-Country - Silver Badge

Instruction - Instructors may be authorised by DGC Full Cat Instructors to conduct local training with members of their own clubs. BIs may fly with their own club members or relatives/close friends. A site check and thorough briefing will normally be required. Wider authorisation requires CFI/DCFI approval.

X-Country Instruction - Full or Asst Cat Instructor

Mutual Flying - Both pilots to receive an initial brief and authorisation to mutually fly from CFI. Pilot in command is declared. Both pilots hold a Bronze C & Cross-Country Endorsement. Both pilots hold 50 hrs P1 and current on type and launch. Flight to be approved by Duty Instructor. One pilot must hold DVLA 1.

 

Junior
HCW

Local - 10 solo flights and conversion check with instructor.

Local - 10 solo flights and conversion (site) check with instructor.

X-Country - Bronze Badge, Cross-Country Endorsement and full conversion to type.

X-Country - Bronze Badge, Cross-Country Endorsement and full conversion to type.

 

ASW 19b GCA

Local - Full conversion to the Junior, 25 solo flying hours, CFI/DCFI approval.

Silver Badge or sufficient evidence fulfilling full conversion criteria. (Site check required with DGC Instructor)

X-Country - Bronze Badge, Cross-Country Endorsement and full conversion to type.

 

Discus
HXH

Local - Silver Badge, 50 solo hours, full conversion to the ASW 19, CFI/DCFI approval.

Silver Badge and sufficient evidence fulfilling full conversion criteria. (Site check required with DGC Instructor)

X-Country - Full conversion to type.

 

Notes:
1. These minimum requirements may only be reduced on the CFI's authority. Authorising instructors must be satisfied that the experience, currency and competence of the pilot match the glider and weather conditions, regardless of paper qualifications.

2. Pilots who do not hold a Silver Badge must be briefed by an instructor prior to their flight. All pilots no matter their qualifications must keep the Duty Instructor informed of their intentions.

3. Full conversion = 10 hours and 10 landings on type.
